July not news

Hi all, not much happenning except the rain. The 172 has gone to Whangarei on a parachuting venture.

Ron is trying to hold a flying experience day for the local Air Traning Corps in the gliders.

The trivia night was a great success but more interest from members would make it a much better night.

The Tecnam went to Dargaville last Saturday and there is a new microlight  trip record in the NAAG files on this page.

The club is still in the process of obtaining a repacement microlight for EHG and we have got it down to three options. It takes time to round up the committee to make a final decision and write out the cheque. With luck we should be flying our new machine by middle August.

Graeme the microlight instructor is offering 4 lessons with no instructor cost to the next two people who start microlight licences. conditions apply so for more info call Graeme 0211467112 or email graeme@microflightnz.com

As the weather improves the Club Captain will be planning new and exciting adventures for club members. Make sure YOU support these events to keep the club vibrant and financial and a great place to come to.

If you have any great ideas, places that would be fun to go to, things to do, talk to Kerry the club captain kjoneale@hotmail.com

Happy Birthday

Hauraki Aero Club inc; ( formally the 'Thames Aeroclub inc;') is 75 years old this year.

On Tuesday the 16th April 1935, 37 Ladies and Gentlemen met in Thames and passed a resolution to form the aero club of the above name.

Thanks to the enthusiasm and hard work of past and present members this sports club is still in good spirit providing cost effective proffessional  training for young people entering the aviation industry and young and older people of both sexes just wishing to enjoy the exhilaration of flight as a sport or hobby.

If you would like to experience that exhilarating thrill of flight the club offers hands on trial flights in our Cessna general aviation aircraft, our Tecnam high performance microlight aircraft and our all metal Blanik gliders. The club operates most weekends and during the week by arrangement.

Membership for this year is still open and we'd love to have you visit.

Contact the club or call Ken Adlam (for the Cessna) 0273655477. For the Tecnam Graeme Styles 021 146 7112, and for the glider call Ron Bergersen 0272774238.

Small club, personal service, professional results.

Microlight Trip

The microlight section organised by Hauraki's senior Instructor Cliff McChesney, and other local pilots, made a sortie to Raglan for lunch and then on to Mt Ruapehu recently. Pictures on the gallery page tell the story. These are only some of the photos, but it shows just what a microlight can do, how far they can go and how you could enjoy a lovely winters day in New Zealand. Contact the club to learn to fly.
